ATTENTION STANCE - Charyot Sogi:
 
 
· Heels together.
· Feet form a 45˚ angle.
· Arms are dropped naturally with elbows slightly bent.
· Fists are slightly clenched.
· Note: When bowing (Bowing command: Kyong Ye), bend the body 15˚ forward, keeping the eyes fixed forward.
 
   
 
PARALLEL STANCE - Narani Sogi:
 

·         Stand with feet at one shoulder width apart.

·         Feet are parallel with toes facing forward.

·         Distribute weight evenly on both legs.

·         Maintain good posture.

 

CLOSE STANCE - Moa Sogi:

·         Stand with feet together and parallel.

·         Legs are straight with weight evenly distributed.

 
WALKING STANCE - Gunnun Sogi:

·         Note i: Bend the front leg until the kneecap forms a vertical line with the front heel. Back leg is straight.

·         Note ii: Toes of front foot face forward. Rear foot points outwards by 25˚.

·         Length of stance: One and a half times shoulder width apart from big toe of front foot to big toe of rear foot.

·         Width of stance: One times shoulder width apart between the centre of the insteps of each foot.

·         Weight Distribution: 50% / 50%

 

L-STANCE - Niunja Sogi:

·         Note i: Stand with feet forming the shape of an “L”, with feet almost forming a right angle.

·         Note ii: Front leg is bent in line with your heel. Rear leg is bent to form a vertical line over your toes.

·         Note iii: Toes of both feet point inwards by 15˚.

·         Length of stance: One and a half times shoulder width apart from the footsword of the rear foot to the toes of the front foot.

·         Width of stance: One inch (2.5cm) between front heel and rear heel.

·         Weight Distribution: 70% (rear leg) / 30% (front leg)

 

FIXED STANCE - Gojung Sogi:

·         Note i: This is similar to L-Stance with the following exceptions:

·         Length of stance: One and a half times shoulder width apart between the big toes.

·         Weight Distribution: 50% (rear leg) / 50% (front leg)

 

SITTING STANCE - Annun Sogi

·         Note i: Toes facing forward.

·         Note ii: Bend the knees over the balls of the feet

·         Note iii: Chest lifted. Tense the abdomen.

·         Width of stance: One and a half times shoulder width apart between big toes.

·         Weight Distribution: 50% / 50%

 

LOW STANCE - Nachuo Sogi:

·         Note i: Similar to walking stance except longer by one foot’s length.

 

BENDING READY STANCE A - Guburyo Junbi Sogi

This stance is mainly used as a preparatory position for executing side-piercing kicks and side thrusting kicks:

Note i: This stance is performed standing on one bent leg with the sole flat to the floor.

Note ii: Position the sole of the non-supporting foot at the knee joint of the supporting leg and keep the footsword of the non-supporting foot parallel to the floor.

Note iii: Make sure your knee of non-supporting leg is pointing towards your target.

Note vi: The fists form a middle outer forearm guarding block.

Weight distribution: The weight is all distributed on the supporting leg, which is slightly bent.

 

REAR FOOT STANCE - Dwitbal Sogi:

 

·         Note i: Stand with rear leg bent until the knee comes over the toes, placing the heel slightly beyond the heel of the front foot.

·         Note ii: Front leg is bent, touching the ground slightly with the ball of the foot.

·         Note iii: Toes of front foot point inwards by 25˚. Toes of rear foot point inwards by 15˚.

·         Width of stance: One shoulder width apart between the small toes.

·         Weight Distribution: 90% (rear leg) / 10% (front leg)

 

VERTICAL STANCE - Soojik Sogi:

 

·         Note i: Both legs are stood straight.

·         Note ii: Toes of both feet are pointing 15˚ inwards.

·         Width of stance: One shoulder width apart from big toe of the front foot to the big toe of the rear foot.

·         Weight Distribution: 60% (rear leg) / 40% (front leg)

 

X-STANCE - Kyocha Sogi:

 

·         Note i: Cross one foot over or behind the other, touching the ground slightly with the ball of the foot.

·         Weight distribution: Place weight onto the stationary foot.
